Privacy Policy

How Mehdavia Community of Sydney Incorporated collects, uses and protects your personal information.

Mehdavia Community of Sydney Incorporated (“MCSI”, “we”, “us”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website and our community activities, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Last updated: August 2026

What we collect

We only collect information you choose to give us. Depending on which form you complete, that may include:

  • Your name, email address, phone number and suburb.
  • Details you provide about family members when enquiring about membership or Deeni Academy enrolment, including a child’s name, age and Qur’an reading level.
  • The content of any message, feedback or enquiry you send us.

This website does not use advertising cookies and does not run third-party analytics or tracking scripts. Prayer times are calculated in your own browser and are not sent anywhere.

How we use it

  • To reply to your enquiry.
  • To administer membership, Deeni Academy enrolment, welfare requests and event attendance.
  • To send the community newsletter and announcements, where you have asked to receive them.
  • To meet our record-keeping obligations as an incorporated association in New South Wales.

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We do not share it with third parties except where it is necessary to deliver a service you have asked for, or where we are required to by law.

Children’s information

Information about children is collected only from a parent or guardian, only for the purpose of Deeni Academy enrolment and community programs, and is accessible only to committee members and teachers who need it.

Photographs at events

Photographs and video are sometimes taken at community events and may be used in the newsletter, on this website or on our social media channels. If you or your children would prefer not to appear, please tell the organisers at the event or email us and we will honour that.

Storage and security

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access. Records are kept only as long as needed for the purpose they were collected for, or as required by law.

Access, correction and complaints

You may ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. You may unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link in any email or by contacting us.

If you believe we have mishandled your personal information, please contact us first — we would like the chance to put it right. You may also complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised.

Please review

This policy is written to reflect how the site actually works and standard Australian Privacy Principles practice. It is not legal advice. Before publishing, the committee should confirm the details are accurate for MCSI — in particular where personal information is stored, who has access to it, and how long records are kept — and consider adding MCSI’s incorporation number.
